MBA 2009: Marketing and Finance

Hi everyone! As the MBA Association President for the 2008-2009 academic year, I would like to be the first to welcome you as the newest members of the Broad MBA family.

At Broad we are just that, family. As a direct result of our intimate class size, we are a tight-knit group of business professionals that recognize the value of creating a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity to cultivate life-long personal relationships with those who share a common set of goals and passions in a comfortable and carefree atmosphere.

While the workload of an MBA program may seem overwhelming at first, rest assured that there are plenty of opportunities to unwind, meet new people, and network with classmates, alumni, and corporate recruiters. The MBA Association takes pride in striking a great balance between academics and social networking. While schoolwork is a top priority, it is important to realize the undeniable value of networking with the future business leaders that are all around you each and every day. We plan to offer an extensive array of events that strikes at the core interests of our class and would like to encourage everyone to participate in as many events as they wish.

The MBA Association plans and coordinates exciting and fun social activities, community enrichment events, and opportunities to experience all that East Lansing has to offer. You’ll find that there is something to do for everyone, and we are eager to provide the best experiences we can. The MBA Association Executive Board is here to help you cultivate and expand your network from the moment you walk through the doors of the Broad school on your first day of orientation.

We are excited about the upcoming year, and look forward to meeting all of the new first year students. If there is anything we can do to make your Spartan experience at Broad better or if you have any questions about any aspect of the Broad experience, feel free to let us know at any time.

We look forward to meeting each one of you very soon!

MBA 2009: Finance and Corporate Accounting

Hello Everyone! As Auditor of the MBAA, my role is to collaborate with the Executive Board and ensure that funds are being allocated and budgeted efficiently to the numerous MBAA-sponsored events throughout the academic year. However, my responsibilities do not end there. Besides coordinating the ever-so popular annual Detroit Pistons Game Outing and a possible Detroit Tigers Game in the Spring this year, the Auditor also lends a helping hand to the other board members and their respective functions whenever needed.

I look forward to meeting each of you from the Class of 2010 and a warm welcome back to the Class of 2009. Be prepared for an exciting year from MBAA!!

MBA 2009: Supply Chain Management, Finance, and IT Management

Welcome back to school, MBA Classes of 2009 and 2010! My name is Jack Lu, and I'll be the VP of Alumni Relations for the 2008-2009 school year. My goal is to be able to facilitate and improve relations with current Broad MBA students and Broad Alumni. By doing so, I hope to bring about a larger presence of alumni to our school and provide resources for current students to easily connect and communicate with alumni.

I will be working closely with the Broad Business Network, Career Services Center, and Admissions to make efforts to update and consolidate our alumni database and simplify our knowledge acquisition from graduates. I will also be organizing several events to try to provide as many opportunities as possible for alumni and students to get involved with the Broad MBA program. I want to make sure that current students have as many opportunities to connect and learn from the experiences of Broad Alumni.

I look forward to a very exciting year, so feel free to ask me questions about anything! Go Green!

MBA 2009: Marketing

First, I'd like to welcome the new 1st years to the Broad School in addition to welcoming back the 2nd years from their summer experiences. My role as VP of Community events is to further cement the strong community feel boasted by the Broad School. With that, I have three primary responsibilities in addition to assisting my fellow board members execute a wide variety of events planned for the year. While '07-'08 was a great year, I am excited to help make '08-'09 even better!

First, I am responsible for the MBAA Welcome Picnic to be held on August 24th, right before classes begin. Next, I assist with the annual Food Fight in November, a very successful food-drive that MSU continues to best itself year-over-year. Lastly, I plan "Sparty Gras" which is an organized barcrawl in April that serves as one last "hurrah" prior to exams.

Once again, welcome and get ready for a wonderful year here at Broad!

MBA 2009: Marketing and Leadership Change Management

Hello and welcome to the MBAA. As Vice President of Membership, I am responsible for making sure each student in the MBA program is informed about the organization’s services and that each student feels welcome to become a member and get involved within the MBAA organization.

Even more important, I organize the purchase and distribution of the Spartan football season tickets. We have great seats (directly behind the Spartan basketball team) and each game is a great way to bond with your fellow classmates. The season tickets are only available to MBAA members so make sure you take advantage of this great benefit. In addition, I am also responsible for the peer mentoring program. I will pair all first years that are interested in having a second year mentor to rely on to help acclimate to the Broad life. I truly believe the MBAA will help each of you achieve success within the Broad School and have fun doing it. I look forward to a great year!
