The strategic mission of the MBA Marketing Association is to enhance the image of the Broad MBA Marketing program and the status of the overall MBA Program at the Eli Broad Graduate School of Management.
The board tries to accomplish this through a number of means. First of all, we work hand in hand with the Marketing faculty to ensure that the curriculum is teaching us the skills that recruiters are looking for. This year, the board and the faculty put together an outline of recommended courses for each of several marketing career paths to help our marketing students focus on the classes that align with their career goals.
Secondly, the MBAMA brings additional learning opportunities for developing skills not taught in the classroom. Some of the workshops planned for this year include a copy college, where guests from a advertising agency will be teaching us how to read advertising copy as well as some of the advertising jargon we will see as marketers. We also have a resume workshop planned for enhancing our resumes to best reflect our marketing skills.
The Marketing faculty, working with the MBAMA, has also put together a mandatory executive development speaker series to bring marketing executives to the school to give us insight into what marketing jobs entail and what challenges marketers currently face. Lastly, the board will be hosting several treks and mini treks this year. Treks provide a great opportunity for students to meet marketing executives and well-known companies and get a real feel for what they do everyday.
The MBAMA is a club that is dedicated to the development of the Marketing MBA program at MSU. We want to see the students from this program become top performers in whatever avenue of marketing they pursue based on a foundation of marketing skills learned and developed at the Eli Broad Graduate School of Management. We hope you will join us.
