Statistics
Statistical modeling is a key concept for all MBAs. Throughout the program, you will be asked to use statistical methods to test hypotheses, build regression models, and make decisions. The program assumes that all students enter the program with a basic understanding of descriptive statistics typical of an undergraduate statistics course and that each student continues to build their knowledge in this subject matter. Background knowledge includes, but is not limited to, probability theory and distributions, descriptive statistics, sampling, estimation, and hypothesis testing.
The statistics requirement can be met two different ways. The first way is to complete a statistics course with a grade of C or better (equivalent of a 2.0 - or "C" on a 4.0 grade scale) from an accredited university or community college. Current Broad MBAs strongly recommend fulfilling pre-enrollment requirements by registering for an actual class at a college or university. The MBA Program Office supports this recommendation, as it is the best option to prepare for the rigorous first semester statistics course.
The second way to satisfy the statistics requirement is to take an online statistics review course offered via Harvard Business School Publishing. More information, including registration details, will be provided upon admission to the Broad MBA.
