Diversity at Broad

Our diverse student body ensures the perspectives required to solve today's global business issues. The Michigan State MBA program makes a special effort to recruit talented potential managers from historically underrepresented groups—African-American, Latino(a)/Chicano(a), Asian/Pacific Islander and Native American (ALANA).

Learn more about the support and opportunities for ALANA students. Attend the Diversity Preview Weekend, and speak to our alumni. Find out why other ALANA students made Broad their choice.

Case Competitions Increase Exposure

In the fall of 2004, the Broad MBA team won the National Black MBA Case Competition, beating out entries from other Big Ten schools, Duke, MIT, UCLA, USC, and Texas.

Broad students have enjoyed tremendous success at a variety of case competitions in recent years.

  • Michigan State’s MBA team also brought home the trophy from the National Black MBA Case Competition in 2004. Read story.
  • Another Broad team took first-place honors at the Big Ten Case Competition in 2004, and represented the Big Ten in a "Rose Bowl" case competition against Pac-10 teams in January 2005.
  • Broad MBAs also won the Big Ten Case Competition back in 2002.

Such events represent the winning competitive spirit of the Broad MBA student culture. Our competition participants have gained added exposure to recruiters and key executives for companies such as DaimlerChrysler and Microsoft.

At Broad, MBA students who participate in case competitions receive full travel funding. Learn more about case competitions.
