Student Life

Broad MBA Student Profile

As a whole, Broad MBA students are known for their approachable, practical personalities and their commitment to community. Each student's unique background becomes an asset to be shared with others as part of our team-based, hands-on curriculum.

Learning from Diversity
The 100 or so students who enter each fall are diverse, in ethnicity, gender, national origin and professional experience. “The Broad School does a great job with picking students from varied backgrounds,” says Arica Drummond (MBA '04). Each student brings his or her unique perspective and experience to the classroom, adding different cultural insights and work experiences to the program. Often students learn just as much from fellow classmates as from instructors about the global business environment or latest developments in various industrial sectors.

“As a Navy supply officer, I was given full scholarship to any of the top 25 schools in the country. I chose Michigan State because of its community service and leadership experience, curriculum and close involvement with professors. The unique thing is the personal skills you develop. It is not just about academics. The Broad School attracts a unique group of people who have a way with people and are natural leaders. My requirement in school is to laugh once a day and to learn something new. And I get that in class every day.”
